Okay, the vote for our new federal government is now complete. Facebook is filled with analysis, grief, anger, disappointment, concern, etc. from my friends out here in the west.
Don’t allow these feelings to spill over into the other aspects of your life. That would be crazy. Release those feelings. Go for a walk, go to the gym, hug your kids, Do whatever it takes to let those feelings go.
Turn them into action if you wish. Politics is something we don’t often think about. Sadly, it’s not taught much (or maybe not at all?) in school and we can feel like it’s “all out there controlling us”. Well, it is and it isn’t.
Yes, it plays a huge role in our lives. Some might say it plays a greater role than it should. But, there it is.
On the other hand, it is a human endeavour and being a human, you can take part. It’s just that it takes commitment and work. Join a political party. The party is the group that ultimately chooses the candidates for a given riding. They choose your candidate. They also fund your candidate and if elected will play a large role in guiding how your candidate will vote on government matters.
That is where the power is. Always has been, actually.
Go for it!
